The Apostle Paul was stuck in Rome under house arrest, in chains, awaiting trial before Nero on charges of sedition and heresy. This side of history we know his imprisonment lasted for 2 years, but at the time of writing Paul neither knew how long he would be confined or what the outcome of the trial would be. This is what he writes under those trying circumstances:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
May you know God's peace during these days of uncertainty. If you are under self-isolation, use the time to pray and meditate on God's Word. Perhaps this is a time for an assessment of our Christian walk. When life as we know it changes and people around us are filled with fear, we have the calm assurance that all is in God's control.
Even if we get coronavirus, we will probably not die and statistics show that the vast majority make a good recovery. However, for those who are in danger, namely the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, these are deeply concerning days. May God's peace guard you and may you be protected from contact with the virus. My heart goes out to those who have already lost loved ones and who may be fighting the virus themselves.
If you do not walk with God, this is the time to seek Him with all your heart. He offers eternal salvation through Christ which guarantees a secure future with Him. The Bible says:
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
God bless you!
