Jerusalem Journey

As I was falling asleep last night, I could hear was the Sh’ma Yisrael resounding in my ears. On Sunday afternoon, I united my voice with around 300 others in Jerusalem and the acapella version had given me goose bumps. So beautiful! The words so beautiful could sum up much of my experience in Jerusalem this month. It was my seventh trip, a number which has great significance in the Bible, and this trip did take on a form of perfection in many instances. On the Friday of the first week, I went to the Garden of Gethsemane early in the morning. If only the 2000-year old olive trees could speak! I retired into the tranquil coolness of the church, where a remembrance service was underway in Russian. As the women sang the responses of the liturgy, many were weeping. I was moved to pray for these women and for the reality of this remembrance to become a vital part of all our lives.
