Come to the Altar




There's nothing more beautiful than entering God's presence in our brokenness and have the Essence of Love fill our hearts with His presence and gentleness. He is such a loving Father who embraces us through the power of His Holy Spirit in grace and truth. 

 Sometimes we turn away from Him and go our own way, but He's waiting to draw us back to Himself 'with cords of love.'  Listen to the Words of the Saviour, the Giver of Life:

 Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. 
Matthew 11:28-30

 We are to come as we are because He knows everything about us anyway. If you hear Him calling today, do not harden your heart. As the song below says:

 Are you hurting and broken within?
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself?
Do you thirst for a drink from the well?
Jesus is calling.

 O come to the altar, 
the Father's arms are open wide, 
forgiveness was bought with 
the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes, 
come today there’s no reason to wait, 
Jesus is calling. 
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy, 
from the ashes a new life is born, 
Jesus is calling.

Oh what a Saviour, 
isn't He wonderful, 
sing hallelujah, 
Christ is risen, 
bow down before Him, 
for He is Lord of all, 
sing hallelujah, 
Christ is risen.

The title of this blog is a quotation from author Jack Higgins, who wrote 'The Eagle has Landed'.  He wished he had known as a small boy that 'when you get to the top, there's nothing there'. The former President of the Republic of Macedonia, Sir Boris Trajkovski, reiterates similar sentiments in this video. The quality is poor, but I think his words can be heard clearly. Even to reach the top position in one's country, " ...as President, in my life I feel that nothing is more important than to know the Lord Jesus Christ. "    What about this feeling of emptiness inside? I agree with Sir Boris Trajkovski. His conclusion is: to have Christ is everything. Forget the religious nonsense which chokes the very soul of the living God. Religion is man-made and is therefore as stifling and narrow-minded as its makers. The Mystery that is Macedonia

When I first came to Macedonia on a visit in 2001, I found this little country so intriguing and breathtakingly beautiful that I happily accepted the invitation to return for a longer period. That ‘longer period’ has now extended itself to several years during which I have had many enriching, memorable experiences. I thought it might be interesting to jot down a few observations about the difference in culture. I appeal to my Macedonian readers not to misunderstand my intentions. Quiet Time

I must admit, I love the morning. The peace, the silence, the coffee... And most importantly, the presence of God! The Psalmist loved the morning. We can catch his sense of joy as he lifted up his heart to praise Yahweh, the Keeper of his soul. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound.
